Good bye summer.

I really do miss laying in the grass.

Corn Maize

Went up north to a farm and did some traditional Autumn activities. The corn maze was cool, it was a maze that has the donkey and elephant on an american flag. The sign said "mildly" political. There were no dead ends, but it was large enough to run around and have fun.

Other things I have done today to prepare myself for this season:
1.Put my flannel sheets on my bed.
2.Drank apple cide. The GOOD stuff.
3.Wore wool socks.

Some cute kids playing with some cute animals too.

I am also a fan of the picture of the sun through the corn stalks.

Snack

This is a picture I took when in Cyprus this summer.

I've never tried lizard before, but this cat didn't make it look too bad.

Soft and Fuzzy

Try some new effects. A little bit of editing with some blurring involved.

It's interesting just wandering around the art building on campus. I wonder if the reason for the puke colored hallways and long empty corridors is for artistic purposes. Like, perhaps that in itself is aesthetically appealing to someone.

Metro

I want to do a montage of just people I see on the bus. Is that allowed? There are cameras all over the place on the buses now. Today would have been perfect. I need to take more risks and just ride the bus and shoot. Worse case scenario is that someone says no or I delete the pictures.

WTA Photo Contest

I decided to submit a couple photos to the Washington Trails Association photo contest. You could submit up to 4 pictures, one for each of the categories. I decided to just submit two pictures. One for hikers in action, and the other is just a scenic view of Washington trails.
I was looking at past submissions and my pictures don't even come close to the quality and skill from those previous photos. Either way...someone will look at my pictures. That alone feels good.

Something new.

Old Roll

I know Ramadan is over, and everything, but I just wanted to post a picture I took of a Fanous in Egypt.
It's great to look back.

Viscosity

This is just one picture of the many things I am unable to afford as a college student.

I'm an animal, I know.

I like it anyway

This is all I can find that is left of summer. Half daisy half can-opener...I've never seen anything like it.
I am going to sleep Great tonight.

Yesterday

So I carried my camera with me everywhere yesterday, took a few shots, and didn't like any of them. Perhaps I will just post a picture from my trip.
-A picture of someplace warm.

This winter will be a shock to my system.

Peas on Earth

I bought a ring the other day. The silver says 'Peace' and it wraps all the way around my finger. But that doesn't have anything to do with anything.
Woke up today to a typical morning in Seattle. Wet, rainy, grey. I do enjoy the smell of rain though and how the leaves rush across the street in the wind.
I like it here, and it wasn't that long ago that I didn't.

Today I had the perfect opportunity to ask someone on the bus if I could take their picture. She was sitting by the window, reading. It was just pouring outside the bus, and it seemed like taking a picture of that moment would just encompass a day on the bus in Seattle. I hesitated...I kept looking at her, getting ready to ask but I could never spit it out. Next time...I just have to.

Pic 1: 20th street. It's right next to my favorite bookstore.
Pic 2: The hallway outside of my first class on mon/wed/fri.
Experiment in perspective.

More of the same?

I just uploaded some more pictures. They all seem to be the same either in composition, or subject, or even my angle of the shot. I think I am afraid to pictures of things straight on. For some reason I think that different angles makes the shot more interesting, but I also value a great picture that is straight forward and head on. I also need to build up more courage to take pictures of people. You never know unless you ask, but somehow I always feel weird asking someone if I can take a picture of them. Is it creepy? Anyway, that is one of my goals is to take more people pictures.

I need to experiment more.

I also read this somewhere:
"Picture not good enough, then you're not close enough"

Think about it.

Test Drive

Included are some warm up pictures. Still trying to understand how to upload pictures and have them show up where I need them to.

Scratching that Creative Itch

If I am able to figure it out, I plan on uploading pictures here and presenting a picture of the day blog. After traveling the summer and taking so many pictures on the other side of the world, I have decided that I don't take enough pictures of where I live. Seattle is a beautiful city and I want to get out more and explore where I live.
This is also going to force me to take more pictures. I find that when I bring my camera with me I take plenty of pictures, but I now just need to get into the habit of bringing my camera everywhere with me. Not many things are worse than being without a camera when inspiration catches me off guard. That empty handed feeling when something is so picturesque right in front of me.

I hope others enjoy this little documentary of Seattle.
