I'm not gonna lie, I didn't want to wear a dress today. I just found some excellent dark wash jeans on consignment , and I really just wanted to wear them with a tshirt.
Instead, I chose a longer dress. Something with less booty maintenance. This is a lilac tshirt dress I found the other week. It's okay I guess, but it probably wont stay in my closet long after this week is over. I'm not in love with it.
Today I wore a simple navy blue t-shirt dress. It was a little shorter than I remember it being last time I wore it, but it could have shrunk in the wash too.
I was whistled at on my walk to work today. For a dress that comes to mid-thigh being worn by a girl who power walks everywhere, I wouldn't be surprised if someone saw my Hello Kitty underwear this morning.
Today I'm working at rock climbing gym, so I don't get to wear this dress all day. Well I could, but it would just be inappropriate to wear a climbing harness in a dress.
I'm actually excited about tomorrow's dress. It's a new one and I haven't worn it yet. It'll be nice to wear it on my day off when I'm not running around doing dishes or up to my elbows in mayo.
Even thought it's sunny outside, I added my grey striped sweater because an autumn chill is in the air.
Oh, and I know you can't see them very well, but I'm wearing my cute new brown flats. And my toenails are purple:-)
I've been purging my closet of clothes and selling or donating items. These are usually clothes I don't wear, don't like, or don't fit.
This was also a time of discovery, because I dug up at least 15 dresses in my closet too. I hoard them, I even remember where I bought each one and my intentions for wearing them. But, I hardly ever wear dresses. I have this idea in my head that dresses require all this maintenance to wear them, and I am constantly self-aware while wearing one. I have to remember to sit a certain way, make sure my booty isn't hanging out the back, and there is also the wind factor.
In reality, these are just excuses I have made. I've always been a jeans and t-shirt girl, and ultimately that is what I'm most comfortable in.
Well, I'm stepping out of my comfort zone.
For the next week, I'm challenging myself to wear a different dress each day.
This is a challenge because not only is a dress the last thing I want to put on in the morning while I'm stumbling around with crazy hair, trying to get ready for work; but also because I work in a cafe and prepping food and making coffee is a dirty job. I'm hard on my clothes.
I'm also hoping to break down this idea in my head of how I'm supposed to act and how the rest of me is supposed to look while wearing a dress.
Seriously though, how simple and comfortable are dresses? I buy them for a reason, but I always create an excuse to not wear one.
This is day one.
I know it's not a totally legitimate dress, but c'mon guys, I'm easing into this.
Light blue tunic, brown leggings, and my brown boots.
It just screams Little House on the Prairie, but it was comfortable at work, and it's always nice to wear my comfy boots.
The sun is peaking out of the clouds, so I think the rest of the week will be leggingless. More colors and I'll wear my flats.
I created this blog as a place to post pictures that I will attempt to take everyday. A Pic-Of-the-Day thing, you could say.I hate being caught without a camera, so perhaps now i will be able to capture those little tid-bits in everyday life that catch me off guard as beautiful, interesting, suprising, etc.
A majority of my money goes to concerts and my rock&roll lifestyle, food, and books. I am also one of those people who recycle compulsively and even place the toilet paper cardboard in the appropriate bin. Lately I have been trying to step out of my comfort zone. This includes rappelling off of buildings, wearing my hair short, and admitting to my tea addiction. I look forward to the part of my life when I am able to own a dog again and walk him everyday. For now I am content and happy, and I enjoy all the belly laughs that find me everyday.
